Bridgeport ISD Bond 2023

Proposition A

The projects in Proposition A are designed to help increase safety and security across the district, provide maintenance and capital improvements for aging facilities, renovate the oldest school building in the district (the 66-year-old Bridgeport Middle School) and build a second K-5 elementary school to replace Bridgeport Intermediate School. The scope of the BMS renovations and the new auditorium for Bridgeport High School has been revised since the May election.

Renovations

Career Tech renovations include improvements to:

  • automotive technology
  • agricultural mechanics
  • animal science
  • horticulture/plant science
  • production design studio
  • business-industry classrooms to support current programs

Campus Specifics

Currently, 85% of BHS students are enrolled in at least one Career Tech course and several programs have waiting lists of students wanting to participate.

Projected Opening: Fall 2026

Multiple Potential Sites

  • Replaces a 54-year old Intermediate campus where safety and security are a priority in design and construction
  • Relieves Bridgeport Elementary Projected Enrollment Capacity
  • Provides the district with two, Kindergarten-Grade 5 campuses
  • Capacity for 800 students

Projected Opening: Summer 2025

  • Provides more space for classroom instruction
  • Provides more space for all student programs
  • Provides more space for campus programs
  • Provides ability to host multiple events at the same time

  • BHS Band Front Ensemble Sound System
  • BHS Mariachi Microphone/Sound System
  • BMS/BHS Band Hall Wired for Sound
  • BHS Dance Room Sound & Floor
  • BHS Commons Sound System
  • Marching Uniforms and Instruments

 

EST. PROJECT COST: $2 MILLION

NEW SCHOOL BUSES TO MAINTAIN A SAFE AND MODERN FLEET

BISD owns 26 school buses

  • 46% are over 12 years of age
  • 58% will be over lifecycle by 2025-26
  • The bond proposes purchasing two replacement buses per year for the next 10 years.
